Theatre for the Free People introduces Kitchell Samuel, an artist : activist and social entrepreneur from Amsterdam Netherlands as our first Artist in Residence in the “Artist : Activist Development Program”. This program is dedicated to developing an artist as an innovator, creative entrepreneur and transformational activist.
Kitchell Samuel is the “Architect” behind Architect the Future, a cutting edge multi-media and lifestyle brand which focuses on building bridges, designing new concepts and developing a creative hub for artists, activists and social entrepreneurs. As an artist, he is a talented filmmaker, musician, MC, poet, actor and photographer. He is currently living/working at an artist residency called Heesterveld (H-Spot) the new cultural hotspot in the Bijlmer area of Amsterdam Southeast where he serves as a Project Coordinator for the H23426 initiative. Through this project he is the manager of a restaurant, “Homecoming”, clothing store “Hot on the Market”, tourist office “Hidden Treasures of Southeast” and temporary artist residency “HARTT Apartment” which is the home of the Theatre for the Free People International Arts Exchange program in Amsterdam.

Theatre for the Free People’s “Artist : Activist Development Program” provides services and support for artists in three major areas: Artist Development, Transformational Activism and Creative Entrepreneurship. We are very excited to work with Kitchell over the course of the next twelve weeks to develop his skills as a performance artist, achieve personal goals in the areas of time management and project development, create innovative marketing strategies for his organization, Architect the Future and maintain a healthy sense of self.
